About James

I have had a passion for cars as long as I can remember, particularly classic racing ones. However I choose an unusual route into motorsport, via my involvement with the British Lawn Mower Association. I got a summer job selling advertising space in the programme for their annual 12 hour lawnmower race at Wisborough Green. A few years later I found myself working for a sponsor of the Toyota then Honda teams in the BTCC. My job involved acting as the contact betweent the sponsor and the team. This gave me my first taste of life in the pit lane.

In 1998 I decided that just watching racing was not good enough, so I went out and bought myself a race prepared MGB (with the money my wife and I had saved for a new kitchen). I have been racing MGB's ever since, in both the UK and Europe. My racing lead to me get involved with helping to run the 1965 Le Mans MGB, DRX 255C, and being part of the pit crew, I also took on the role of looking after the teams press and public relations at major events such as the Le Mans Classic. What started with me creating press releases then quickly grew into writing full articles and supplying photographs.

I now write regularly for several classic car magazines. I am a "Regular Contributor" for Enjoying MG, the MG Owners Club award winning magazine, which has a monthly circulation of approximately 30,000 copies. As well as writing about classic events, I have also had media accreditation to cover events such as Goodwood, Le Mans 24 hour, Le Mans Classic, Silverstone Classic and the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).
